Anthony Jan Pawelec was born on August 27, 1909 to Joseph Pawelec and Maria Babiarz. He grew up in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut with his four siblings. At the time of his enlistment in the military on December 15, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut, he was working for the U.S. Finishing Company. His military serial number was 3127447. Private Pawelec was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA, and was part of the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component. His rank was Private, and he was enlisted for the duration of the war or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law. Following his military service, he returned to Norwich. Anthony Jan Pawelec eventually relocated to Brockton, Massachusetts in the late 1950s, where he lived until his passing on June 11, 1967.

Anthony Michael Pawelec was born on December 6, 1916 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York to Stanley Szuls Pawelec (1892–1967) and Kazimiera "Carrie" Masialinska (1892–1939). He had three siblings. Anthony Pawelec enlisted in the United States military on March 11, 1941, in Jamaica, New York. At the time of his enlistment, he was 23 years old and single, without dependents. He served in the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA branch of the military. His military service began prior to the United States' entry into World War II, and he would have been among the early enlistees who helped prepare the military for the coming conflict. He later married Maria Ann Priebil (1919–1953). Together they had two children, Anthony Michael Pawelec (1943–1998) and Rose Anne Pawelec (1948–1981). Anthony Michael Pawelec later lived in Ramsey County, Minnesota, USA, where he resided until he passed away in 1963.
