Annie was my Great Grandmother. She lived in her older age with My Nan her first Daughter Adeline Ada (McMillan) Hendrick. She married Frederick but he died in a paupers grave near Daylesford. He can from a wealthy family whom owned the Ajax gold mines the family sold the mines in Daylesford and the money was dispersed between the siblings. Frederick Annies husband bought a hardware store in Daylesford, he then sold it to McQwens. He then bought a farm. Having no knowledge on farming it went bust. Annie left him with her four children. They went to Caulfield where Annie worked for the powerful Wren family as maid. Nan told me of stories playing with the Wren children. Frederick Annies husband became an alcoholic once he lost his money and my Nan hated him. Great Gran was an extremely tough lady and extremely strong minded and willed. Her children from oldest was Uncle Jim I assume was James, then my Nan Adeline, then Uncle Wally and my favourite Great Aunt Annie Florence whom we called Aunty Flossy. My Nan and her were very close and would spend so much time together. Great Gran died when I was only 5 years old and it wasn't long before my dad died of cancer, he was only 25 and their only child. My dad was her favourite as she lived with him till her death. The woman in this family were all extremely strong family woman. Like her mother Amelia Marguerite Blackwood whom came from Spain my Great Great Grandmother. I have so many more stories my Nan shared with me while growing up be happy to share some more.
