Shedrick Newton Earp was born in Polk County, Arkansas on October 25, 1868. He was the last child of John Wesley and Linna White Earp. Linna died three days later. The family moved to Mclennan County, Texas. Shedrick married Nina Eloise Jones on August 23, 1886. Three of thir four children were born in Mclenna County; Thomas Emmet,Bessie Estelle,and Ancel. The family moved to the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, Oklahoma and settled in what is now Carter County, Oklahoma. Their last child, a daughter, Hollis, was born in 1901. S.N. and Nina were divorced about 1901. Shedrick drank carbolic acid in a cafe in Oklahoma City and died on March 8, 1908. He is buried near Gene Autry, Carter County, Oklahoma. His gravestone says "Pioneer Doctor". It was placed in the 1960s by his children.
